Agents from Keller Williams selected Forgotten Angels as one of the beneficiaries of their annual community service project, Red Days! There was a need to finish out some construction on a large room that was quickly turning into a storage room instead of valuable program space at our Day Hab building. Don Jones and Jan Briggs, of Keller Williams, determined what needed to be done and rounded up the people to do it. They even rounded up donors to pay for materials and professionals to volunteer their time for the hard stuff. It has turned into a real labor of love. An $8000 Lowrey Community Service Grant and another $1000 grant from the Newfield Foundation will allow us to outfit this room with several computer workstations and software specially designed to help those with varying degrees of developmental disabilities to build skills needed in their quest to live as independently as possible. Among those who contributed to the project were: Texan Drywall, Inc., Lowe's Pearland, Stewart Title (Shawn P. Black & Assoc), TDD Fencing & Remodeling, Ashton Wood Homes/Southern Trails, Absolute Restoration and Remodeling, Grace Community Baptist Church. Here's a few shots, but you can see more on our Facebook page!

The boys of Troop 468 spent a Saturday afternoon visiting the home of some of our residents and learning about services to the developmentally disabled as part of their merit badge work. After spending some time getting to know each other, all the guys gathered on the lawn for a few rousing games of Hot Potato and then retired to the house for some card games. The residents really enjoyed their afternoon with the Boy Scouts and hope for more visits in the future! More pictures here!
